Mare Artificial Insemination Course

This short course consists of more than 22 hours of instruction (about 10 hours of theoretical instruction/lecture and 12 hours of hands-on instruction in the lab) working with mares for artificial insemination. The course will cover several topics, including: semen evaluation and processing for insemination in mares, artificial insemination techniques, the mare estrous cycle and methods of manipulation, prediction of ovulation, and anovulatory conditions. Students will receive lots of hands-on practice in mare insemination using fresh, cooled, and frozen semen, and view demonstrations of ultrasonographic evaluation of mares’ reproductive status and deep intra-uterine insemination. Payments can be made online (preferentially) or by check/money order. Check or money order payments should be made to "Mare Artificial Insemination Short Course – FY 2026 – April 12-14, 2026". If you need to send payment in the mail, you must call or email and let us know it is being sent and include a tracking number. Additional Note: Please come dressed in long pants (preferably jeans) and close-toed shoes for each day of the short course. Additional Required Documentation: Prior to the start of the course, participants must submit a signed Release of Liability Form and a completed Photo Release Form. Please also bring one form of government-issued identification (driver's license or passport) and proof of health insurance coverage to the course.
